Front taper: This short front taper will turn over better when you're casting into the wind. It's also ideal for casting big flies. Head: Short head will load the rod quicker and throw bigger flies with less effort. Reartaper: This longer rear taper allows you to adjust casting distance for better accuracy. And you can extend the head well beyond the tip when making longer casts. Running line:This large-diameter running line tangles less and is much easier to handle. XXT Fast Sinking Lines. A sinking line must be castable, handle well, and sink quickly. It's vital to have the proper size front taper, head length, rear taper, and running line. Front taper: This short front taper makes a sinking line cast smoother, and eliminates the sharp kick that can make casting difficult. Head: This head length is just right-long enough to turn over without shocking the rod, yet short enough to extend well beyond the tip. Rear taper: This longer rear taper prevents hinging when extending the head beyond the tip, and allows roll casting with less effort. Running line: This large-diameter running line tangles less. It is also easier to handle, and gives you more control.
